From the day we adopted Kara from Hand Me Down
Dobes at the end of 2000, we knew we had a very special girl. She loved
to play games around the house, especially moving or picking up things
like clothing, cameras or glasses but you could always find them in her
bed, undamaged. She has taught us a lot about intensity, trust and love.
Kara ran the “Alpha” of the dog household. She was Ron’s second agility
dog, and probably his fastest. Kara competed at the highest competition
levels (and actually beat Border Collies) and has earned over 48 agility
titles in various venues such as USDAA, NADAC, CPE, ASCA and AKC. During
her active career, she was always in the Top 30 of Doberman’s in the
country in the DPCA (Doberman pinscher Club of America) system. She was
the Doberman Pinscher Nationals-Highest Scoring Doberman in Trial
(Agility) in 2001 and 2005. Kara was awarded the 2005 Dog of the Year
for the Doberman Pinscher Club of Columbus, Ohio. She has passed her
DPCA Working Aptitude Examination and Canine Good Citizenship.
Kara lost her battle with Osteosarcoma and Chronic Valvular Disease.
We will sorely miss her.
